Puppies!

•Monday, October 27, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Okay, so this is just about the coolest thing ever! I’m getting paid to play with puppies! How awesome is that?! Here’s the story behind it…My moms friend’s dog just recently had a litter of 11 puppies, german shorthairs. We (meaning my mom, brother, and I) started going over to her house and played (as much as we could at the time) with the puppies, held them, and bottle fed them. So as they started to grow, and opened their eyes and started moving around, my mom’s friend called me asking if I would like to come over about 3-4 times a week to her house to look after the puppies for a couple hours to clean them up a bit and play with them while she is at work. So of course I said yes, I mean seriously, who wouldn’t say yes to getting paid for that?! Oh, and this is the really cool thing, she (my mom’s friend) had told us before that if we wanted, she would give us one of the puppies when they were old enough. Now, she has been selling some of them for roughly $1000 each because they are purebreds, so we didn’t say anything about getting one because hey, if she can get the money for ‘em, we would let her. But she has officially decided that we *are* going to get one! So that’s really cool, we have her named and everything, her name is “Rain(e)” after our grandma and because the little spots on her legs makes it look like rain, lol. I’ll be posting pictures of her sometime soon, so keep looking for ‘em! Talk to ya’ll later!

I’m back!

So I can’t believe I seriously haven’t written in this thing in more than a year! I’m gonna try to keep it more updated than I used to…lol So I really don’t know what to say at the moment… cept for the fact that I’m back!!! So, update on my life! I’m currently going to UCCS as a sophmore, still don’t have a major, but I’m leaning towards either photography or animal welfare. I know, 2 completely different things, but also related, what I would really love to do is become a free lance photographer for national geographic, that would be amazing!!! Anyway, I’m just taking general credit classes right now, this semester I have Psychology, Sociology, Women’s Studies, and Theatre. So yeah! I’m gonna try to keep this updated as much as I can, talk to ya’ll later!

Spring Break

Wow, I haven’t writen in forever! Sorry everyone! Okay, so, for spring break, I went on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico with Lone Tree! It was absolutely amazing! This was my 3rd time going, so I expected many things to happen that did, but don’t get me wrong, there were so many suprises that came along as well! For one thing, last year, during team building in New Mexico, our team just could not finish one of the games, it was so annoying! We had a beach ball, and everyone on the team had to hit the ball 3 times, but you couldn’t hit it again until everyone had hit it once, then you couldn’t hit it a 3rd time until everyone hit it for the 2nd time, sounds easy enough right? Wrong. Our team, for whatever reason, just could not do it! But anyway, this years team actually got it! Some of us who went last year were there, and we were so excited that we actually finished it! Hehe. Then came the Alpine tower, a 150 ft. climbing tower, with 3 sides to it, easy, medium, and hard, obviously. This year, I did the hard side, which involved climbing 1/3 of the way up the tower, then climbing onto a vertically suspended log in the air, climbing to the top of it, then getting onto another vertically suspended log, climbing up it, getting off at the top of it, and pulling yourself onto the top of the tower, which is much harder than it might sound or look. The first day we were in Mexico building was concrete day, which invoves mixing wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of cement and pouring it into the forms we had built for the foundation. We also built all of our walls that day, which put us ahead for the 2nd day, which was putting up the walls, putting on the roof, covering the walls with celotex, nailing plywood to the roof, putting tar paper on the roof, and nailing chicken wire to the walls. We were in 2 different teams, I was in team A, and for us, it seemed like nothing was going right for us, for example, on the roof, you have to put this black paper down before the tar paper. We were putting down the tar paper and suddenly, out of nowhere, a great wind picked up and ripped the top part of the black paper completely off! We also accidently cut the wood wrong and made our house 3 in. higher than it was supposed to be, which didn’t help at all, but we got through all of our troubles and on the 3rd day we stuccoed the house and bought the family home-coming gifts and presented the house to the family. As a sort of signature on the house, we poured our extra concrete into a step in front of the front door of the house. And you wanna know the cool thing? I got to design what it looked like! Our team leader, Kim, asked me if I wanted to and I said of course! So what it ended up looking like was a small cross out of rocks in the bottom right corner of the step, and the woman’s son’s handprint on the bottom left corner. The cross was made out of rocks that I found around the site, and the center of the cross was a really cool heart-shaped rock that I found there! The next day we went to the orphanage and got to play with the kids there, which was so much fun. After that we went to the market and bought really anything we wanted, and we got to barter with the people there, which was great. So, that’s basically my spring break, and I will post pictures later either here or on my DeviantArt site.

Gasp!

Wow, I don’t think that I have posted in at least a week, perhaps more. Sorry everyone! It’s been a really hectic week, though. I was sick all weekend long with strep throat and a severe sinus infection, and I’m still getting over that. Play practice is going great, we have only 35 days until our first performance! We also got to take publicity shots in front of a hot rod yesterday, which was lots of fun. Let’s see…Today is our 2nd moodle day, our 1st was on Saturday, moodle is basically an online site for our school where teachers can post homework assignments on days we don’t have school, so that we can have the day still counted as a school day, just online instead of in the classroom, which is nice, so we can go to things like our state basketball game! Well, that’s about all that’s going on right now. Hopefully I’ll post again soon!

Singing!

•Thursday, February 22, 2007 • Leave a Comment

So, Rachel, Dana, and I are going to do a trio singing of the national anthem for our school’s basketball game tomorrow at about 1pm. It’s gonna be awesome right? There’s only one slight problem…we just started working on harmony parts today, and we only have tomorrow morning to get the rest done…Great…So, obviously, we are gonna need some major prayer for that, if you guys could pray for all of us, especially Rachel and Dana because they are both also sick, that would be awesome! Thanks guys!

Sadie Hawkins

So, Sadies was last night! It was so much fun! I’m still really tired and a little sore from dancing basically all night long. Since the theme was “End of an Era,” everyone dressed up from the past. The costumes were great! Some were quite interesting though…like Adam and Eve (after the fall, they were covered), JKF and Jackie AND Marilyn Monroe, and some others. Dana and I were Danny and Sandy from Grease, which was a lot of fun, especially when they played “Summer Nights” on the dance floor. We got to do lots of swing dancing (good practice for the play! ;) ), so we had a great time. It was a blast!

2 Million Dollars?!

•Sunday, February 4, 2007 • 2 Comments

Okay, I don’t know if it’s just me or not, but are the Super Bowl commercials just getting dumber and dumber? I mean, these commercials are supposed to be the best of the best because they spent 2 million dollars or more making the dumb thing anyway. It sure doesn’t seem like they spent enought time for their money though…aw well, I just hope they get better…

Thou Shalt Laugh

If anyone hasn’t ever seen Thou Shalt Laugh before, you need to! We just bought it over the weekend and it is soo funny! They have a whole bunch of christian comedians like Thor Ramsey, Patricia Heaton, Michael Jr., Jeff Allen, Teresa Roberts Logan, Joby Saad (the self-proclaimed village idiot), Gilbert Esquivel, and Taylor Mason. They are all great comedians! Everybody needs to see this. I was listening to it and could not stop laughing, my 2 favorite comedians on here are Thor Ramsey and Taylor Mason, but they are all awesome. Well, better get going, super bowl time!

Dancing Update

•Thursday, February 1, 2007 • 6 Comments

Just thought I’d give you guys an update on what’s been happening with the dancing for our play. We have picked out some songs for the dancing scenes, we just need to get down the beat for the dancing, is really all. Dana is doing great, both of us are actually, since we have never danced before, we are both picking it up really well, and Dana is a great dancer! :D Well, that’s about it!
